Saturday night saw Garage Awesome hit Hull for the 4th ‘Hulloween’ cruise. It’s been a while since we covered a cruise and was one of only a handful I’ve actually been to this year, and we were rewarded with what I think was the largest cruise I’ve ever been too, so big in fact we’re giving it too you 2 parts!
The guys at Fast-N-Modded, the cruise’s organisers, are no strangers to putting on a great show; this being their 4th in the series of Hulloween cruises, obviously based around the annual celebration of Halloween, allowing not only a big cruise but also the chance for some crazy and scary costumes to be worn too!
Firstly I have to thank Rich, head honcho at Fast-N-Modded for inviting Garage Awesome to cover the event, it’s very difficult getting a site of any kind off the ground and allowing us to cover it and plugging our attendance on their well presented flyers and informative messages has allowed extra people to find out about us, and having the privilege of covering the event, so thanks Rich!
Secondly, the whole experience of the cruise, in our eyes, has set standards for any future cruise we go to, and has beaten any past cruises I’ve been to by a country mile, the team obviously worked so hard to make it a success and it paid off, from the girls on the gate collecting charity money and the lads directing traffic, to the DJ spinning the decks and the mass of displays the team had put together, the night was a huge success and no doubt would not have been possible without any of you guys doing such a fantastic job.
The cruise itself, well, I’m a little reluctant to call it a cruise as it was almost a show, it was certainly as well organised as a show, in fact I’d stick my neck out to say it was better than some of the shows I’ve paid £20-£30 to get into this year!
There are no other words for it other than ‘massive’, ‘huge’, ‘big’ and other large adjectives, an estimated 1000+ cars and 2000+ people made their way to the Humber bridge Tourist Info car park, well 4 car parks to be exact, and all 4 were packed to the rafters with modified metal, no cruise I’ve ever been to has matched the scale this event was done to.
Again this was down to the F-N-M team’s hard work, with arrangements with local authorities, articles in the local Press and staff member Dean Jackson making multiple appearances on local radio stations, not to mention the detailed messages sent out via the social networking sites.
Inside the cruise the guys had organised some big names to be there in what was almost like a trade village! There were all kinds of displays and stands including major show promoters Auto Media, full Max Power coverage from snapper Mallo, Redhotpoker.com brought along a couple of exotic cars including a Lamborghini Gallardo spyder, Rallycross champion Mad Mark and his mental Citroen Xsara, who has been on Garage Awesome before on our Rallycross reports, and the pre arranged top 10 modified show cars.
It was also refreshing to see a display from the Humberside Police Force who brought along their Volvo T5 and very cool Lexus IS patrol cars for everyone to look at, and rather than hanging around outside pulling folk over or trying to shut it down, they mingled in, chatted to the cruisers and were right at the front when it came to watching a pair of big power Skylines chuck out some crowd warming flames!
So, that’s part 1 and we’ve only skimmed the surface, check out part 2 later this week for even more pictures, a round up of the total raised for charity, and some of the awesome cars we found whilst walking round!
Well done Guys! follow us on Facebook.com/garageawesome to keep track of when pt2 gets released!
